If it hurts, don't wait — most dental problems get worse fast

A small ache today can become a serious infection in days. As an experienced Delta dental clinic, we've helped thousands of patients through urgent problems, and the pattern is almost always the same: the sooner you're seen, the simpler and less expensive the fix. If you're dealing with any of the following, call Delta Rise Dental at (604) 503-3888 right away:

  • Severe or throbbing toothache that keeps you up at night or doesn't respond to over-the-counter pain relief.
  • A broken, cracked or chipped tooth, especially with sharp edges or exposed nerve.
  • A knocked-out tooth from a fall or sports injury — time is critical, ideally within one hour.
  • A lost filling or crown leaving a tooth sensitive or vulnerable.
  • Swelling of the face, jaw or gums, or a painful abscess — a possible sign of infection.
  • Bleeding that won't stop or trauma to the lips, gums or tongue.
Life-threatening symptoms? If you have difficulty breathing or swallowing, or significant facial swelling with a high fever, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. For urgent dental pain, we're here for you same-day.

While you wait to be seen

First-aid for common dental emergencies

1

Knocked-out tooth

Hold it by the crown, not the root. Gently rinse without scrubbing. Try to place it back in the socket, or keep it in milk (or inside your cheek) and call us immediately — the first hour matters most.

2

Severe toothache

Rinse with warm salt water and gently floss to remove any trapped food. Take over-the-counter pain relief as directed. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum. Call us to find the cause.

3

Broken or chipped tooth

Save any pieces and rinse your mouth with warm water. Use a cold compress on the outside of the cheek to reduce swelling. Cover a sharp edge with dental wax if you have it.

4

Lost filling or crown

Keep the crown if you can. Temporary dental cement from a pharmacy can protect the tooth. Avoid chewing on that side and book to have it re-secured before it worsens.

Emergency FAQ

Common questions about urgent dental care

Can I see an emergency dentist today in Delta?

Yes. Delta Rise Dental reserves time each day for dental emergencies. Call (604) 503-3888 as early as possible and we'll do our best to see you the same day for severe pain, swelling, or a broken or knocked-out tooth.

What counts as a dental emergency?

Severe or constant toothache, a broken or cracked tooth, a knocked-out tooth, a lost filling or crown, swelling of the face or gums, bleeding that won't stop, or trauma to the mouth are all dental emergencies. When in doubt, call us and we'll advise.

What should I do if my tooth gets knocked out?

Pick the tooth up by the crown (not the root), gently rinse it, and if possible place it back in the socket or keep it in a cup of milk. Call us immediately — a knocked-out tooth has the best chance of being saved within the first hour.

How much does an emergency dental visit cost in Delta BC?

An emergency exam follows the BCDA fee guide and is often covered by insurance and the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). We give you a clear estimate before any treatment and direct-bill most insurers.

Do you accept walk-in dental emergencies?

We strongly recommend calling first at (604) 503-3888 so we can prepare for you and reduce your wait, but we accommodate urgent walk-ins whenever our schedule allows.
